A letter by SRK to journalists, given at the press meet to release RA.One’s first trailer, asks for media and press support for what is his ‘most ambitious venture’. So it’s kinda surprising that at the Q&A session, SRK mocked the press, especially the TV channel folk. Either Shahrukh was too afraid to say anything that could be made into a controversy, or he was plain tired of the whole process, having been in the industry for over 20 years now. Mid-life crisis, might we say? The actor described recent interpretations of his quotes in certain channels thus: Kaafi bakwaas hai (all bulls***). And while requesting the camera crews to switch off their equipment while the trailer was on, he was quick to add, “You guys are good cameramen. Aap log Ravichandran hai” (referring to cinematographer Ravi K Chandran). Now why was he so wary of the media? It is true that the other two Khans, Aamir and Salman, have had a superb run at the box office in the last two years. So it seems SRK is getting the jitters and is really banking on RA.One to help him re-establish his No.1 position – at least in the eyes of the media. RA.One’s publicity began in January 2011, and will go on till the film’s release in October. Considering that every now and then there will be something out in the media from the producers, it was surprising to see the actor in this mode. Is Shahrukh already tired of promoting his most ambitious baby? Or maybe the mood swings are something to do with his smoking habit.
